LOW MOQ, NO PHASED OUT COLLECTIONS

We produce each of our styles in the minimum possible quantity, and each of our pieces will be available until the last unit is sold out. We do not believe in the notion of imposing a timefrime for the products to be purchased.

ACTIVE SUPPORT TO NATURE CONSERVATION

On a yearly basis, Kelp Forest donates 15% of the profits to carefully selected ocean conservation projects. However, we are always striving to connect with more restoration and conservation efforts and extend our parternship and support to urgent ecology matters.

MATERIALS WITH REDUCED FOOTPRINT

We carefully chose the materials for each of our styles. These materials include upcycled and recycled fabrics or certified sustainable natural fibers to produce our premium garments.

AFFORDABLE AND DURABLE

For sustainable fashion to become mainstream, there are two main goals to achieve. Firtsly, products need to be durable; long-lasting garments will be used for a longer time, reducing the turnover of your wardrobe! Secondly, it needs to be affordable, so a larger percentage of the population can realistically access the products.

BEHIND THE SCENES - Kelp Forest Team

Kelp Forest came to life thanks to the hard work of a team of scientists, fashion experts and manufacturers. Regardless of their background, the goal of every person involved in this project is the same: the protection of marine ecosystems and biodiversity. Most of us are avid SCUBA divers and as such, we have learned to respect and understand the role that every organism plays in these complex environments. At the same time, we see fashion as a powerful vehicle for self-expression and uniqueness, and our brand as a symbol of commitment to nature and social equality. We believe that sustainable fashion can lead a much-needed global change in our consumer habits, and we have integrated this belief into every step of the process. Keep reading to know how we do it.

Materials

Sourcing the right materials is essential to reduce the ecological foodprint of our garments. We have envisioned a series of strategies and chose the best materials for this purpose.

Deadstock fabrics: Upcycling left overs.

The term deadstock refers to the left over materials generated by fashion houses that overstimated their needs. These materials that traditionally ended up in landfills now become available for other brands to use. Despite being restricted by the availability of the fabric itself, deadstocks are an incredible suitable resource for us; the material fulfills its initial purpose while we remain committed to produce each of our styles in very low quantities!

Natural dyeing from plant extracts

Finding alternatives to hazardous and damaging components commonly used during the manufacturing process is one of our top priorities. Pure plant extracts used as natural dyes will allow us to phase out the use of synthetic chemicals. We have already integrated this innitiative in to produce our Tote bags and to print our labels, while we seek for manufacturares that can guarantee durability of the dyes in the garments. By purchasing our products, you support Kelp Forest innitiative to transition to natural dyes in our future collections!
